Can I still use Illustrator or Inkscape afterwards?
Yes. The export is a standard SVG, so you can combine it with your own artwork, layers and effects.
Inkscape & Illustrator
Inkscape's Path Union and Illustrator's Pathfinder Unite merge overlapping shapes — which works, as long as the letters actually overlap and the inner counters come through as holes. On script names they often do not: the letters merely touch, the middle of an a fills in, and the dot on an i is left floating. WeldWords handles those cases as its whole job, and still hands you a normal SVG you can open in either program.

How it works
Everything stays editable until you export, so one-off fixes never mean starting over.
A single word, or a list of names one per line.
Tighten spacing, scoot individual letters, or add a bridge where a gap will not close.
Enter the real height or width in millimetres or inches.
Download SVG or DXF and open it in Inkscape or Illustrator for any extra artwork.

Counters are inner contours. If the fill rule or path direction is wrong after the merge, they are treated as solid instead of as holes.
No. It prepares fabrication-ready lettering; your design software stays where you do everything else.
